Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT)Lymph Drainage Therapy is all about enhancing lymphatic flow. Applied with a light, rhythmical, wave-like touch, LDT is deeply calming. LDT stimulates an increase in the flow of the lymph during the actual therapy session and beyond: the enhanced flow may continue for up to several days following.
Benefits and Applications of LDT
LymphedemaLymphedema is swelling due to inefficiency of or compromise to the lymphatic system. This commonly happens when lymph nodes are removed, as in surgery for breast cancer. Complex Decongestive Physiotherapy (CDP), a regimen of massage, bandaging, and exercise, is prescribed. Once CDP is completed, ongoing consistent Lymph Drainage Therapy helps to maintain a reduction in the swelling. Laura has extensive experience in working with breast cancer survivors to maintain the reduction in swelling after CDP. | |
